Back-to-School Brigade provides supplies to military children

Nearly 200 kids receive school supplies thanks to Operation Homefront

MIAMI – Nearly 200 military children will begin the new school year with the tools they need to succeed.

Thanks to Operation Homefront and its annual Back-to-School Brigade, the children received brand-new backpacks, paper, folders and other school supplies Saturday at Williams Army Reserve Center in Miami.

Multi-Bank Securities Inc., a veteran-owned business enterprise, was a major sponsor of the event. MBS employees volunteered to distribute the goods, donated school supplies and contributed $5,000. Operation Homefront's partnerships with Dollar Tree, SAIC and Honda Financial Services also helped to make the Back-to-School Brigade possible.

"Operation Homefront's mission is to help build strong, stable and secure military families so that they thrive in the communities they've worked so hard to protect," said Operation Homefront Chief Operating Officer and retired Air Force Brigadier Gen. Robert Thomas.

"The Back-to-School Brigade is one way that Operation Homefront thanks military families for their service by easing the financial burden of the back-to-school season," Thomas said.
