Miami-Dade County Public Schools holds contest to find new logo

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ The Miami-Dade County Public School District is holding a contest to create a new logo.

School district officials said in a news release Tuesday that they are looking for a logo in the #MDCPSRefresh contest that will "embody the innovative learning and teaching that takes place in our schools and classrooms."

The current logo includes an open book, but district officials said they want to show that books alone do not represent how students prepare for the world.

"Recognizing that logos are one of the most important aspects of a company or entity, we believe it's time for an update to reflect our world-class brand," the news release said. "But we can't do it alone, so we're launching a contest to find the design that best characterizes our district."

The contest is open to all Florida residents. The person whose logo is chosen will receive a $2,500 prize.

A special selection committee will review the entries and an online vote will be open to the community to determine the finalists.
