MIAMI -- Chita Rivera has lived most of her life onstage, so it seems fitting that the legendary Broadway Star do a show about her life. Rivera, now in her 60s, stars in " Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life. "
The musical celebrates the life and career of Rivera, considered by fans and critics as one of America's most beloved stage performers.
The traveling musical features a cast of Broadway's most talented singers and dancers, including Rivera's dance partner, Richard Amaro, a Miami native.
" Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life, " gives audiences a rare look into that moment when great musical numbers were born, as related and performed by the woman for whom they were created.
Digital correspondent Alex Alvarez spoke to Rivera and Amaro about the show, which opened Tuesday night at the Carnival Center in Miami.
Alvarez asked Rivera about her decision to do a show about her life and about her friend Rosie O'Donnell, who was in the audience opening night at the Carnival Center.
