Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving 'The View'

Co-host found to be 'too extreme and right wing' for viewers

"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing," an insider toldĀ Us. "People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."

The announcement comes just hours after it was announced Behar would be ending her stint after 16 seasons. Ā Behar will be on through August.

It's been a rocky road on the show for Hasselbeck. Ā She had a number of heated on-air discussions with Behar and her fellow co-hosts, including former 'View' member Rosie O'Donnell in 2007 over the war in Afghanistan.

No word yet on who will fill both seats next season.
