Celebrate the Fourth of July in Key Largo at this year's 4th of July Parade and Picnic.
The 37th Annual Reporter 4th of July Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Anthony's Women's Apparel at Mile Marker 98 and will end at Waldorf Plaza at Mile Marker 100.
The picnic, sponsored by the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce and The Reporter, will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 4 at the Murray E. Nelson Government and Cultural Center at Mile Marker 102.
The celebration will include an old-fashioned watermelon stand, with a seed-spitting contest, a petting zoo, face painting, Key Lime pie on a stick, potato sack races, snorkel gear relay races, a giant water slide and more.
Organizers said there are events scheduled every half hour.
Drivers should be aware that northbound U.S. 1 will be diverted along the parade route from 9 a.m. to noon.
