MIAMI BEACH -

Pitbull is synonymous for South Florida, and so is the iconic restaurant, Miami Subs.  Now the Latin hip-hop star is hoping to revive the fast-food chain that has been one of his personal favorites for years.

Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, announced a new partnership in The New Miami Subs Grill Tuesday.  The company, based in Fort Lauderdale, has been lagging in business for years now and is hoping Pitbull will help bring the chain back to its heydays in the 1980s and 1990s.

“Pitbull is the guy to take us to the next level. The brand is going to be synonymous with him. We need to translate his energy to our stores. We think he can get that done," said Miami Subs Chief Executive Richard Chwatt.

Pitbull will serve as a member of the board of directors and help with marketing and menu development.  He took to Twitter to share the news with fans.

"Very gr8ful 4 the opportunity to be an owner @miamisubs luv the power of #305 coming 2gether daleeeee!," Pitbull Tweeted.

This is not Pitbull's first business venture.  He has his own line of low-calorie vodka called Voli.  He was also tied with rapper 50 Cent on Forbes' Hop Hop Top 20 list in 2011 with earnings of $6 million.
