PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - A Florida woman's mispronunciation error kept her from winning thousands on a recent episode of "Wheel of Fortune," sparking anger on Twitter.
Many viewers thought Renee Durette had won the $3,850 she had accumulated when she guessed the answer to the world puzzle, "Seven Swans A-Swimming." Judges disagreed, saying she violated the rules because it was spoken in vernacular. Durette's pronunciation left off the "g" in "swimming."
A rival contestant ended up winnWheing the prize.
According to ABC News, the Navy Intel Specialist from Merritt Island was not upset, calling her time on the game show an "amazing experience." Durette had asked for the "g" earlier in the round and says she knew it was at the end of the word.
"Wheel of Fortune" airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on Local 10.
