Petitions to get the actor to visit Aurora were posted on Change.org over the weekend. Bale then released a statement, saying: "Words cannot express the horror that I feel.  I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."

Bale's film, the last of the Christopher Nolan trilogy on Batman, premiered last Friday at midnight. Minutes into the film, police said James Holmes walked into the Aurora movie theater and opened fire, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others.
