DJ Nicky Romero preps for Mansion's last Friday

Mansion nightclub to celebrate last weekend

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – An iconic South Beach nightclub is preparing for its final weekend of fun.

The Miami Herald's Lesley Abravanel said that a new nightclub to be named the Icon or Paradise will be taking the place of Mansion, 1235 Washington Ave., after this weekend.

Mansion opened in 2004 and reinvigorated the South Beach nightclub scene.

Scenes from the 2006 film "Miami Vice" were filmed at the popular nightclub, which caters to bottle-service clientele.

However, Mansion's troubled past may have contributed to its demise.

Chef Antaun Teasley was shot dead during a fight at Mansion nightclub's VIP area last year. Then a Cameo nightclub bouncer was accused of beating up tourist Mohamed Youness Adlan so bad that he left him in a coma for three months.

The tragedies hit the Opium Group. The club's insurance agreed to a $5 million settlement in the Adlan lawsuit that followed. French brothers Eric and Francis Milon were forced to make changes.

Nightlife entrepreneurs  Louis Puig and his partner Justin Levine were moving forward with new ideas.

On Tuesday, there were still tickets for sale for Mansion's last "Super Friday" night. Dutch DJ Nicky Romero (Nick Rotteveel van Gotum), one of the world's best, will be playing.
