Joy Behar returning to 'The View'

Original co-host joins newcomers Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris

A familiar face is returning to "The View" next month.

ABC News announced Tuesday that Joy Behar will return to the daytime talk show, which will make its new season debut Sept. 8.

A pair of newcomers -- actress Candace Cameron Bure and "Good Morning America Weekend" co-anchor Paula Faris -- will join Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symone and Michelle Collins.

Behar co-hosted "The View" for the first 16 seasons since the show's premiere in 1997.

"Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in," Behar said in a news release. "Plus, (husband) Steve (Janowitz) was getting tired of applauding every time I gave my opinion. But I'm happy to be back home."

Behar, Bure and Faris complete the lineup, which has been mostly jumbled since Barbara Walters left the show last year.

Since then, Rosie O'Donnell has returned and left again, while Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace lasted just one season before announcing their departures. Raven-Symone and Collins were recently named co-hosts.

Bure is best known for her role as D.J. Tanner on the sitcom "Full House," while Faris has co-hosted ABC's weekend morning news program since 2014 and served as a correspondent since 2012.

"I'm humbled and excited to have not one, but two dream jobs -- 'Good Morning America' and 'The View,'" Faris said in a news release. "What I love about 'The View' is that no topic is off the table, and every viewer can feel like they have a voice on the show. I can't wait to connect with the audience in a new way as I take a seat alongside this exceptional group of women."
