'Little House on the Prairie' heading to the big screen

WALNUT GROVE, Minn. – One of the most memorable shows to ever hit a television screen is getting a film adaptation.

"Little House on the Prairie" -- which ran on NBC from 1974-83, will be made into a feature film by Paramount Studios, according to THR.

No actors have been cast yet.

The show was based on a young adult book written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, based on her own life growing up in the American West, taking place in the late 1800s. 

The show made Melissa Gilbert (Laura) and Charles/Pa (Michael Landon) household names.

The release date of the film has not been announced.
