South Florida film critic makes Oscar predictions

Dan Hudak shares his top picks for the 85th Academy Awards

The stage is set and the red carpet is ready for the stars ahead of Sunday night's 85th Academy Awards.

South Florida film critic Dan Hudak joined the Local 10 Weekend Morning team in the WPLG studios Sunday morning to announce his predictions for some of the top awards.

Hudak believes Best Actress will go to Jennifer Lawrence for her performance in "Silver Linings Playbook." His personal favorite for the award is Naomi Watts, who played a mother struggling to reunite her family after a tsunami in Thailand in "The Impossible." Watts is only in about half of the movie, so Hudak says it may not be enough for her to take home the win.

Hudak also thinks "Lincoln's" Daniel Day-Lewis is a shoe-in for the Best Actor award. Hudak also gave a nod to Hugh Jackman for his performance in "Les Miserables."

Hudak is also confident that "Argo" will win "Best Picture." He points out that it is a movie that celebrates Hollywood, just as the Oscars are awards that celebrate Hollywood.
