Robin Roberts returns to 'GMA' Wednesday

"Good Morning America" anchor 'visualized' her return during recovery

NEW YORK – Robin Roberts will return to the anchor desk on "Good Morning America" Wednesday, after being out for six months following a bone marrow transplant.

"I have visualized this moment," Roberts told her "GMA" co-anchors during a brunch that was taped a few weeks ago and aired Tuesday.  "It's something like this, looking into Sam's blue eyes. …I love how we're sitting, how we would be sitting. …But I know when I sit back down, right in this chair, and I look over and I see you and I see you and I see you and I see you, it's gonna be, all is right in the world. And it's gonna seem like no time has passed at all."

Roberts' return Wednesday will be five months to the day since she underwent her transplant to treat myelodysplastic syndrome or MDS, a rare blood disorder.

"I haven't done live television since the end of August," Roberts said, "So I'm a little bit nervous, …  but you got my back, … that's what I'm not nervous about. … I know that you have my back."

Roberts will share her personal journey battling MDS for a "20/20" special Friday at 10 p.m.
