Robin Roberts checked into the hospital Monday to begin her bone marrow transplant treatment.
She shared a picture with fans on Twitter of herself with shorter hair, holding a picture of her beloved parents.
And on her ABC blog and Facebook, Roberts wrote:
"Holding a picture of my two guardian angels..mom and dad.
The journey continues today as I head to the hospital and begin the process of returning to full health.
Are you in agreement?
Grateful to those who have shared their stories with me.
As momma use to say: 'We all got somethin'!'
Lifting you up as you have for me...This too shall pass.
Oh, by the way, as my friend India.Arie sings...I am NOT my hair.
Onward and looking upward. Blessings to all...XO"
Roberts was diagnosed with a rare bone-marrow and blood disorder known as MDS or myelodysplastic syndrome in June.
In her absence, a number of celebrities will help to fill-in her anchor chair on "Good Morning America." Tuesday, singer Jessica Simpson joined the news desk.
