Zachary's chocolate creme pie

Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
Pinch of sea salt
4 ounces bittersweet good-quality chocolate, chopped
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Garnish:
Fresh whipped cream
Chocolate for shaving

Directions:
Combine all dry ingredients together.

Combine the milk and egg yolk. Whisk until homogenous.

Place both the dry and wet ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil with the chocolate whisking constantly. When thick, remove from the heat and whisk in butter and vanilla.

Pour into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap touching the pudding. When cool, spoon into a prepared pie crust. Top with fresh whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Crust:
1 1/2 cups finely crushed chocolate graham crackers
1/4 cup sugar
8-10 tablespoons melted butter, slightly cooled

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix the graham crumbs and sugar together in a bowl, add the butter, a little at a time, mixing well, until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 8 minutes. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
