Flair's management team originally tweeted over the weekend that there was no reason to panic, but the tone turned more ominous Monday morning when the group asked for "prayers and positive energy."

Flair himself tweeted Thursday ahead of this weekend's PGA Championship being played in his home base of Charlotte.

Melina Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent and Entertainment would not divulge what is ailing Flair, but tweeted they are "tough medical issues."

With his over-the-top style and signature "Wooo!" catchphrase, Flair gained fame in the 70's on his way to winning 16 world titles. His daughter Charlotte is currently one of the WWE's biggest performers.

The Charlotte Observer reported Flair dealt with health issues in 1998 when he slumped over during a WCW event in Tampa. Tests showed then he had not suffered a heart attack.
