I was tired last night. Really tired.
So tired that I made a BIG bed time mistake. My girls usually falls asleep in their own beds, and then, what we call "creep" into ours…but since my husband was at work I decided to get into bed…along with both of my girls. I didn't even try to put them in their own beds. SO… it was a "mom sandwich." Me in the middle and a girl on each side.
My oldest fell asleep fast…the baby was a much different story. She tossed and turned and tossed and turned and before I knew it, it was almost 11 o' clock and neither of us had slept a wink. I got frustrated of course (more than normal because exhaustion was officially setting in) and told her I was going to put her in her own bed if she didn't go to sleep.
Really? Way to go mom, threaten your child as if sleeping in her own bed is punishment.
And her inability to fall asleep was probably because her routine was completely off. No rocking, no story, no Minnie Mouse to hold.
Definitely not my finest "mom moment," and I have no problem admitting that.
In the middle of the night when I took a foot to the face I had nobody to blame but myself.
Kudos to all the moms out there who have managed to keep their kids out of their own beds…and I welcome any advice if it's not too late for mine!
