MENIFEE, Calif. – It's rare in baseball to see a player hugging an umpire.
Unless, of course, the player is a little leaguer and the umpire is his U.S. Marine father looking to pull off the ultimate surprise.

Master Sgt. Randy Brock had been training in Japan for six months before returning home to California on May 12.
But instead of just walking through the door and saying hello, Brock came up with a better plan.
With help from his wife, Brock showed up to his 10-year-old son A.J.'s baseball scrimmage dressed as an umpire.
According to the Daily Mail, Brock made bad calls while he was behind the plate and his son was pitching from the mound.
When A.J. was at bat, Brock stopped the game to dust off the plate. Brock then begins talking to his son, who still is unaware of the umpire's identity.
It wasn't until Brock removed his umpire's mask did A.J. learn the surprise.
A.J. immediately jumped to hug his father in a strong embrace, while his younger sister Mikaella joined the two on the diamond.
The crowd immediately started applauding the homecoming
