Woman dies after getting Brazilian butt lift at Eres Plastic Surgery in Hialeah

Death comes a year after another woman dies after surgery at same business

HIALEAH, Fla. – A Kansas City woman who flew to South Florida to get a Brazilian butt lift in Hialeah died Thursday night after undergoing surgery, Hialeah police Sgt. Carl Zogby said Friday in a news release.

Zogby said Ranika Hall, 25, had the procedure done at Eres Plastic Surgery at 1738 W. 49th St. The business was previously known as Encore Plastic Surgery, Vanity Cosmetic Surgery and IQuest Surgery Center.

The Hialeah Fire Department was called to the business shortly before 9 p.m. after Hall lost consciousness and was not breathing, Zogby said.

She was taken to Larkin Hospital in Hialeah, where she died about an hour later.

Eres Plastic Surgery is the same business where another woman, Heather Meadows, 29, underwent surgery before dying May 12, 2016.

Meadows underwent the same procedure as Hall. An investigation determined that there was no criminal wrongdoing in that case.

An investigation into Hall's death is now underway.

Authorities did not immediately say whether the same doctor performed the surgery on both women.
