MIAMI -

Miami-Dade police are investigating a bomb threat at a building on Biscayne Boulevard.

The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. at the Citibank building at 10800 Biscayne Blvd.

Police said a man went into the building and told someone who was working there that he had placed a bomb somewhere in the building. That employee called police, and officers evacuated the 10-story building.

Biscayne Boulevard was closed from Northwest 96th Street and Northwest 116th Street for several hours.

The officers' idea was to plan for the worst and establish a large perimeter to keep the most people out of harm's way as possible in the event there really was a bomb.

No bomb was found, and police reopened Biscayne Boulevard shortly after 6 p.m.

Police said the man was taken into custody.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said that while the man was in custody, he said he left a bomb in a Tamarac home, but police said a bomb squad investigated and found nothing dangerous.
