MIAMI - Police have arrested and charged a man in the murder of 10-year-old Aaron Vu (pictured, right), as well as attempted murder on Aaron's father Hai Vu, according to police.
After video footage of the shooting was released, police identified 19-year-old Anthawn Ragan, Jr. as one of the shooters, according to an arrest affidavit. Police located Ragan at his sister's house on Tuesday after a tipster led them there.
Ragan tried to flee when police attempted to apprehend him and he became violent with officers, but eventually gave up.
Ragan was then taken into custody, where he was picked out of a six-person lineup by three witnesses. A woman claiming to be his girlfriend defended him Wednesday as he made his first appearance in court.
Aaron Vu and his father were shot Friday at a nail salon in Miami. Aaron died Friday and on Tuesday, his father pleaded with the community to help find his son's killer.
Ragan is charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, armed robbery, aggravated assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Court records say Ragan has been arrested eight times since 2007. Charges include armed robbery, possession of a firearm, and theft.
Police are still looking for a second person in the shooting. Anyone with any information that may lead to the second shooter is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
