1 dead, 5 injured in 2-vehicle collision in Miami

SUVs collide on NW 22nd Ave.

MIAMI – A head-on collision in Miami left one dead and five injured, including three children.

Police said the driver of a black Chevrolet Blazer lost control on Northwest 22nd Avenue and went into the path of a black Chevrolet Suburban about 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

The driver of the Suburban, which was occupied by a family of five, struck the Blazer, causing it to spin out of control and hit a light post.

Police said the passenger in the Blazer, who has not been identified, died at the scene.

Three children inside the Suburban and their father, who was driving, were treated at the scene. The fifth passenger, the mother of the children, was taken to the hospital but was discharged Sunday night.

The driver of the Blazer remain in serious condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
