PERRINE, Fla. -

A 55-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Perrine on Monday afternoon.

According to Miami-Dade police, robbery intervention detail officers tried pulling over the driver of a GMC Denali about 1 p.m. but the driver sped off. The driver ran a stop sign at Southwest 105th Avenue and 176th Street and slammed into the red Ford Taurus that Monica Patterson was riding in.

The driver of the Denali then ran away.

Patterson was killed. The driver of her car was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

Shandrea Corker said she didn't see any lights or sirens. Miami-Dade Police Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said there wasn't a pursuit.

Police didn't say why detectives tried pulling over the driver of the Denali.
