FHP says 22-year-old woman's vehicle struck man's car, causing man to lose control

DAVIE, Fla. – The driver of a pickup truck was killed Wednesday evening when another vehicle rear ended his, causing him to lose control and flip over, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at the Sheridan Street exit.

According to FHP, 22-year-old Lauren Kaye Sculthorpe's vehicle hit the left rear of Edward Barralaga's pickup truck, causing the 53-year-old man to lose control.

Barralaga's truck overturned and came to a rest on the west shoulder of the exit ramp to eastbound Sheridan Street. FHP said Barralagawas pronounced dead at the scene.

The two right lanes and the exit ramp to eastbound Sheridan Street were closed for investigation and then reopened at 7 p.m.

Sculthorpe was uninjured. Charges are currently pending.
