FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale police seized about $100,000 worth of fireworks Wednesday, authorities said.
Police said officers accompanied officials from the Fort Lauderdale Fire Marshal's Office, who executed a cease and desist order from selling fireworks at a business at 1770 E. Sunrise Blvd.

Police said the violator, identified as Justin Driggers, 38, of Sebring, refused to remove the fireworks from the display.
Driggers said he refused to do so because Florida law allows for the legal sale of fireworks throughout the state and the State Farm Marshall's office issued a wholesale permit.
"The fireworks that were seized were 1.4 G consumer fireworks regulated by customs for testing and are sold throughout the country legally in many states including Florida," Driggers wrote in an e-mail.
Police issued Driggers a notice to appear in court and seized about $100,000 worth of prohibited fireworks, authorities said.
