Graffiti Is Eating Away At Miami Businesses

MIAMI -- Graffiti on buildings and signs is nothing new in South Florida, but graffiti done with acid is.
Police call it acid etching and the new style of graffiti is leaving a burning and expensive expression.
"Financially it is killing me, every night I close up my shutters to protect my windows," said business owner Georges William.
Some of the windows on his commercial property located near Miami's Design District were hit with the acid etching.
The graffiti cannot be painted over, so the only way to remove the marks is to replace the glass, which Williams says will cost about $40,000.
The acid-etching got so bad at one point that some of the business owners were forced to put up shutters -- a temporary solution that isn't helping business.
"People are scared to come in...they think gangs are around. We need more police," said clothing storeowner Suzie Prodhomme.
