New Specialty License Plate Promotes Organ Donation

Alonzo Mourning's latest charitable mission is personal.

The Miami Heat star is spearheading a new statewide campaign to promote organ donor awareness and to fund research, transplant patient services and education.

Mourning, who was diagnosed with a degenerative kidney ailment in 2000, is working with the Transplant Foundation at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine to promote the state's new specialty license plate, "Donate organs. Pass it on."

The specialty license plates are available at county tag agencies, tax collector offices and thorough the Transplant Foundation.
