POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- After a cemetery mix-up, Pompano Beach is making sure mistakes in its record keeping are not made again.
Workers moved the body of Daisy Lee Harris from its resting place after the city discovered the plot where she had been buried had been purchased years ago by another party.
"I thought it was a joke, a cruel joke that somebody was playing on me. I mean, this is Mom. Just think if it was their mom," said Stephanie Harris.
"There's nothing we can do to ease their pain. There's nothing we can do. We can't imagine the grief they're going through for a second time," said Sandy King of the City of Pompano Beach.
Harris, who was buried over a year ago, was moved 200 yards from her original spot, but away from her son and sister.
As for the city, they said if they discover workers were negligent, disciplinary action will be taken.
