12 Florida Fish and Wildlife officers graduate from Florida Public Safety Institute
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Division of Law Enforcement has 12 new officers.
The officers were part of the 20th law enforcement class that graduated from the Florida Public Safety Institute near Tallahassee. The graduation ceremony was held on Friday morning.
A commission news release says the officers had to first receive their law enforcement certification before taking part in the eight-week training. Their training included wildlife identification, vessel operation, defensive tactics, and a focus on state and federal wildlife and fisheries laws.
The group will patrol Florida's waters and lands, including state parks and forests. They are also authorized to enforce federal fisheries and wildlife laws.
