HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a 12-year-old-girl in very critical condition.
Hallandale Beach police said the crash happened about 1 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Foster Road.
Witnesses said the girl was crossing the street when a red car struck her.
"As soon as she stepped in the street, she had no chance at all," said witness Leonorist James.
"I just saw the car zig-zag, and then I saw her fly in the air," said witness Eljuste Louis Saint.
Several hours later, a car matching the description of the suspect's car -- red with front-end damage -- was discovered behind a house at 410 Northwest Fifth Avenue.
Police said the homeowners, where the vehicle was found, had no involvement in the crash, but that they realized the vehicle, a 4-door Dodge, was in their back yard when they returned home from work.
The 12-year-old girl wasn't immediately identified.
Some neighbors said cars frequently speed on Foster Road.
