A 14-year-old female student was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after she was burned while working in a science laboratory.

The incident happened at Gulfstream Middle School.

The student suffered second-degree burns to her leg after hot water fell on her, according to Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue.

The student was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital as a precaution.
