A CBS-TV freelance employee from New Jersey, who was in South Florida to cover the Miami Dolphins game against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday never made it to Dolphin Stadium after he was arrested on charges that he solicited sex from an 11-year-old girl.

Daniel Barron, 56, of Boonton Township, N.J., was arrested Saturday and charged with solicitation to commit sexual battery on a child under 12.

According to the arrest affidavit, a Broward Sheriff's Office detective was portraying himself as an adult male with an 11-year-old daughter in an America Online chat room called "open-minded parents" when he received an instant message from Barron's screen name of "DBarsTone" at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The affidavit alleges that Barron said hello and wrote, "So do you and the kids all enjoy some adventure?" When the detective identified himself as an adult with an 11-year-old daughter, Barron allegedly responded, "Very, very cool. Not a cop."

According to the affidavit, Barron asked if the undercover detective and his fictitious daughter would visit him. When the detective said he wasn't interested in fantasy chat, Barron allegedly responded, "I am very serious. You and the dau come down here."

During the course of the alleged conversation, Barron indicated that he wanted the fictitious daughter to provide oral sex and have sex with him while the detective videotaped it. Barron also suggested that the detective and his fictitious daughter meet him in Fort Lauderdale, according to the affidavit.

Barron stated he was staying at the Renaissance Hotel on the 17th Street Causeway in Fort Lauderdale, according to the affidavit. Barron allegedly wrote that he wanted the girl to get naked as soon as they arrived at the hotel. He also stated he wanted the detectives fictitious daughter to "sleep nude with (him) in his bed" and wrote "I will be very gentle with her."

The police report also states that Barron said he was using a laptop computer that was owned by CBS and is in a media production truck, which was located at Dolphins Stadium.

Barron told the detective while chatting online that he "works for the media and is covering the Miami Dolphins game." He told the detective that he "may be able to provide Dolphins tickets" to the man and his daughter.

A CBS sports spokesperson would not comment on the arrest, but confirmed that Barron worked for CBS as a freelance technical manager.

Barron was being held at the BSO main jail on $75,000 bond.
