Two people were run down in a Flannigan's parking lot and police are trying to track down the driver who did it.

Surveillance video showed the incident from Feb. 12 in the parking lot of the restaurant on North Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach.

The video first shows Vagiff Safarov, 62, buying alcohol just after midnight, police said. Images from another camera show one of the victims kicking Safarov's car; the suspect then hits the gas and runs over the victim.

"It's disturbing," Hallandale Beach Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy said of the surveillance video. "It's a very horrific video to see someone being drug 20 feet and struck."

Flournoy said he doesn't know why the altercation took place, but that it wasn't an accident.

"It was intentional," he said. "He just simply ran him down."

One of the victims suffered a serious head injury and the other has a broken arm.

A Broward County judge has issued a warrant for his arrest, charging him with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Detectives believe Safarov is aware they are looking for him.

They say he drives a yellow, 2001 Suzuki Vitara SUV with Florida tag 180-XYR.
