2 charged in Fort Lauderdale home burglary

James Blue, 14-year-old boy charged

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police arrested a 19-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy accused of burglarizing a home in a southwest Fort Lauderdale neighborhood.

Police arrested James Blue and the boy on August 13. Blue also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

A witness saw the pair carrying a pillow case as they knocked on the doors of unoccupied homes, police said. He later saw Blue and the boy without the pillow case.

The witness asked Blue and the boy what they were doing, police said. They said they were looking for work mowing lawns despite not having any equipment or business cards with them.

Surveillance video from a home near one that was burglarized that day showed Blue and the boy hide a pillow case inside of a garbage can, police said. Inside the pillow case, police found $2,000 worth of electronics.

Blue and the boy were charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, grand theft, and grand theft with property damage. Blue also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
