Man finds parents dead in southwest Miami-Dade murder-suicide

Bodies found by son outside home near pool

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide outside a southwest Miami-Dade County home, police said.

Miami-Dade police were called to the house in the 19000 block of Southwest 244th Street just after 1 p.m. Monday after the bodies were found by the adult son of the couple on the back patio.

Sky 10 was overhead as the bodies could be seen with tarps near the pool.

Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said the estranged wife visited the house to pick up documents.

Once the son returned to the home, he found his parents dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

As news began to spread, co-workers and others who knew the couple began to arrive at the scene, distraught and confused to hear that the couple they knew could be a part of what police called a murder-suicide.

One woman collapsed on the street.

"They've been great people," one neighbor said. "We really like them. I know the husband fairly well."

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. A motive remains unknown.
