2 dogs rescued from Miami apartment fire

Dogs found unresponsive

MIAMI – Two dogs were rescued after a fire broke out Tuesday evening at an apartment, Miami Fire Rescue officials said.

Crews arrived after 7:30 p.m. to 7820 NE Bayshore Court, where Miami firefighters found heavy smoke inside a second-floor apartment.

The fire was quickly extinguished and two large dogs, Antonio and Gordo, were found unresponsive inside the apartment, authorities said.

Crews began CPR on both dogs and a pet mask was used to force oxygen into their bodies. Miami Fire Rescue said moments later, the dogs began coming around. They were then taken to Miami Shores Vet Clinic.

The dogs' owner, Yoandris Nunez, said he's had them for nine months, about as long as he's lived at the apartment, saying he got the dogs from his neighbor.

Antonio and Gordo are American bulldog mix, according to the owner.
