2 in custody in connection with drug bust at Miramar home

Small marijuana grow operation found inside home, detectives say

MIRAMAR, Fla. ā€“ Two people are in custody in connection with a drug bust at a home in Miramar, authorities said.

According to Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues, detectives and the department's SWAT unit executed a narcotics warrant Thursday at a home in the Monaco Cove community in the area of Southwest 29th Court off 192nd Terrace.

Detectives said a small marijuana grow operation was found at the home.

Residents were shocked when they saw police cars swarm their neighborhood.

"Oh my God. I'm as shocked just as you. We have never heard of anything like this in this area," Priya Emrith said.

"To think we're immune to it is ignorant," another resident, Guy Goulet, said. "I don't like it, but what am I going to do? I'm not going to move. This is my community. This is my home."

Neighbors who live across the street and who watched the bust go down told Local 10 News that a family was renting the property.

"Scary, because we have kids," one resident said. "We all have little kids growing up. This is not something you want, especially in a neighborhood like this."

The identities of the suspects have not yet been released and it's unclear how many marijuana plants were seized from the home.
