MIAMI ā Two Jackson Health System employees have been fired for a data breach involvingĀ New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.
Jackson Health spokesman Edwin L. O'Dell said that during the investigation of a breach that happened in July, Jackson Health became a party to related litigation.

"As part of our investigation into the breach, it was discovered that two employees inappropriately accessed the patient's health record," O'Dell said in a statement. "That finding resulted in the termination of both employees."
NJ.com reports that the employeesĀ accessed Pierre-Paul's medical records.
"Protecting the privacy of our patients is a top priority at Jackson Health System," O'Dell said. Any time we have allegations of a breach, we immediately and thoroughly investigate."
Jackson Health System operates Jackson Memorial Hospital, where Pierre-Paul had a finger amputated after a Fourth of July fireworks mishap in South Florida.
The two-time Pro Bowl player attended Deerfield Beach High School and the University of South Florida. He was a first-round draft pick of the Giants in 2010.
