Marathon gas station robbed at gunpoint; police search for 2 men

Men ran away on Sheridan Street, witness says

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police are searching for two men who robbed a Marathon gas station at gunpoint on May 12.

Police believe the pair arrived at the gas station in the 2500 block of Sheridan Street together, then walked into the store separately at about 12:34 a.m.

Surveillance video shows the men getting a beer from a cooler in the rear of the business before approaching the cashier.

While the one man distracted the cashier, the other man pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash from the cashier, a police report said.

The man with the handgun then reached across the counter and took cash from the register before leaving through the front door, police said.

Meanwhile, police said the other man "casually retrieved his single beer and followed the first suspect out of the business."

A witness said both men ran east on the north side of Sheridan Street.

One of the men is described as having a beard and mustache and was last seen wearing a black shirt, gray long-sleeved shirt and black pants

The man with the handgun was last seen with a beard, blue skull cap, white undershirt, blue long-sleeved shirt, black pants and sneakers.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 954-471-TIPS.
