2 Miami-Dade police officers suffer leg injuries after crash

Detectives with robbery unit crash in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two police officers suffered leg injuries Thursday afternoon when they crashed in an unmarked police car, Miami-Dade police said.

The detectives were in an unmarked Dodge Charger and were on routine patrol at the time of the crash, Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said.

They were traveling north on Northwest 27th Avenue when a woman driving a Chevrolet Avalanche in the opposite direction tried to make a left turn at Northwest 122nd Street.

The impact of the crash sent the woman's car spinning off the road. She remained at the scene and wasn't taken to a hospital.

Both detectives were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries. They were listed in stable condition.

Miami-Dade police detectives were investigating the cause of the crash.
