Two officers were flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital after an overnight rollover crash in Homestead on Monday morning.
Police said the incident began with a home invasion robbery at12362 Southwest 265th Terrace.
Police said that shortly after 2 a.m., intruders burst into the home. Neighbors said the victim told them he was tied up and robbed before the attackers fled.
A Florida City police unit was pursuing the suspects in Homestead when the officer driving it lost control and crashed. The two officers inside had to be cut out of the police cruiser, and they were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
One of the injured officers was released later Monday morning, and the other was listed in stable condition and is expected to fully recover.
According to Miami-Dade police, two suspects who bailed out of their vehicle were taken into custody.
Residents of the neighborhood said this was not the only home invasion lately. Neighbors said they live in fear of robbers and have reinforced fences and installed security cameras.
"I put cameras in my house. I have (an) alarm. I have another dog because we need more security," said neighbor America Lara.
"I'm always concerned about the home. That's why we have a big dog in our yard," said neighbor Umphrey Jackson.
Police said one more home invader from Monday's incident may still be on the run.
