Girl, 9, struck by unmarked police car in Miami Gardens

Amonie Wilson taken to hospital in stable condition

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A 9-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after being hit by an unmarked police car in Miami Gardens, police said.

Sky 10 was above the scene just after 4:30 p.m. Friday as police were seen roping off the area at Northwest 183rd Street and Ninth Avenue.

According to the manager of a Shell gas station nearby, the girl was struck by a silver Nissan Maxima while crossing the busy intersection.

The officer remained at the scene.

A book bag and sneaker were seen in the road as police shut down Miami Gardens Drive in both directions.

The girl, identified as Amonie Wilson, was taken to Joe DiMaggio's Children's Hospital in stable condition.

She suffered several broken bones.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
