2 injured after crashing stolen SUV in Miramar, FHP says

Both people in SUV taken to Memorial Regional Hospital

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Two people were injured when the stolen Mercedes SUV in which they were traveling crashed early Wednesday morning on Interstate 75.

The single-vehicle crash happened on the I-75 northbound ramp to Miramar Parkway.

Troopers said the stolen Mercedes SUV was spotted by Miami-Dade police driving recklessly on Miami Gardens Drive. Troopers said police stopped following the SUV, but came upon the SUV as it was on its side  in the exit ramp.

Both of the people in the SUV were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. One of the victims was ejected.

The suspects have been identified as Charles Byrd Jr., 18, and Skyler Estime, 19.

Troopers said it's unclear who was driving the vehicle.

Byrd is currently listed in critical condition and Estime is listed in serious condition.

The owner of the stolen SUV told Miramar police that her purse had been stolen from her SUV with the keys inside.
