The co-chairs of an advisory commission formed to help the embattled Lakeland Police Department as it tries to recover from its recent problems have resigned.
The Lakeland Ledger (http://bit.ly/15CM5RH) reported Monday that Lakeland businessman Joe P. Ruthven and Polk State College President Eileen Holden were appointed July 12 to co-chair the group. But the two resigned Monday.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement found numerous instances of sexual misconduct by LPD officers, which have resulted in several resignations and firings in recent weeks.
The FDLE is currently conducting a second criminal investigation relating to the sexual misconduct case within the department.
