2 teens linked to more than 100 car burglaries, deputies say

Burglaries occurred in Pembroke Park, Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā€“ The Broward County Sheriff's Office has arrested two teenagers they said are responsible for a string of vehicle burglaries in Pembroke Pines and Pembroke Park.Ā 

Deputy Jonathan Commella spotted Isaac Destin, 18, and a 17-year-old boy putting various items into a gray Nissan Rogue in a parking lot at the La Estancia Townhomes in Pembroke Park at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to a media release.

The deputy noticed that Destin matched the description of an "unidentified suspect captured by security cameras on April 7 burglarizing a victimā€™s car at an apartment complex located at 3760 S.W. 48 Ave. in Pembroke Park," the release said.

When the deputy approached the teens, he noticed a 12-gauge pistol grip shotgun,Ā a revolver and an AK-47 drum magazine in the car, addition to a large amount of cash in the front seat of the vehicle, according to the release.Ā 

A search of the vehicle revealed a pistol grip shotgun had been reported stolen from a car in Pembroke Pines burglary, the release stated.

In addition, when deputies searched of one of the teenā€™s residence, they found cash, narcotics and numerous items that were tied to various open cases, deputies said. Detectives also recovered an additional loaded firearm reported stolen out of Pembroke Pines.

Destin faces 23 charges including grand theft of a firearm, burglary, petit theft criminal mischief, grand theft and possession of cannabis.

The 17-year-old was arrested on charges of grand theft of a firearm.

Both suspects are likely to face additional charges as the investigation continues, according to deputies.Ā
