There's a saying that presidents age twice as fast while in office. Take a look back over the past 60 years of U.S. presidents and judge for yourself how much the office aged them.

Carter's predecessor was President Gerald Ford, who is seen here on Aug. 9, 1974, being sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger after the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Ford was 61 when he was sworn in as president.
