22 Cuban migrants found on Marquesas Keys

Migrants at sea for 2 days

MARQUESAS KEYS, Fla. – According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, some FWC officers found 22 Cuban migrants on Marquesas Key after overhearing a conversation over their radio that people had jumped off their vessel near the string of islands at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday.

The FWC crew found a Cuban raft approximately 25 feet long with a small engine nearby,

After the Coast Guard was notified, officers picked up all 22 adult males and transferred then to Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket, after providing them with food and water.

It is reported that the men were at sea for two days and were in good condition.
