MIAMI - The Miami City Commission will allow the Ultra Music Festival to add a second weekend to this year's event.
Commission Chairman Marc Sarnoff, citing concerns from downtown business owners and residents who consider the festival to be disruptive, had put forth a resolution that would have taken away the Bayfront Park Management Trust's power to hold the festival for a second weekend.
But other commissioners argued that the city should support the expanded event, which will be held March 15 through March 17 and March 22 through March 24.
Ultra also offered to give the city $500,000 to help pay for extra police and firefighters at the electronic music festival.
