3 arrested after posting nude, explicit photos of peers on Instagram, police say

Suspects face electronic transmission of child porn charges

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Three children face electronic transmission of child pornography charges after they created an Instagram account that had nude and sexually explicit images of their peers, police said.

The account solicited its more than 500 followers to post sexually explicit images of Broward County children, including their names and personal information, Pembroke Pines police Sgt. Angela Goodwin said Thursday.

Goodwin said the followers also harrassed those pictured on the Istagram account "by posting cruel comments in response to the images."

"We want to bring this incident to light so parents and juveniles can realize the ramifications of having these photographs on their cellphones or electronically communicating them to others," Capt. Carlos Bermudez said.

The suspects' names are not being released because of their ages.
