3 in custody, 1 sought after hit-and-run
Motorcyclist dies after crash
Three people have been taken into custody and a fourth is still on the run after a hit-and-run that killed a 45-year-old motorcyclist Friday morning.
Miami-Dade police said Carlos Penelas, 45, of Miami, was on a motorcycle going west on Southwest 164th Street about 10:15 a.m. when a red Lincoln Town Car turned left in front of him at Southwest 90th Avenue.
The motorcycle crashed into the car and became pinned underneath it, police said. Witnesses tried to move the car to free Penelas.
When officers arrived, the four occupants of the Town Car ran away, police said.
Officers established a perimeter and took one man and two boys into custody. They continue to search for the fourth person.
Penelas was flown to Kendall Regional Hospital Trauma Center, where he died, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
